Ashton primary school celebrates Queen's Platinum Jubilee

Pupils at St Peter's CE Primary School in Ashton have been busy celebrating the Queen's forthcoming Platinum Jubilee with an array of special events.

Pupils from the Oxford Street school have dressed up on Thursday (19 May) in white, red and blue - the colours of the Union Jack flag - and enjoyed a delicious picnic lunch in the dining hall, which was specially decorated by the Friends of St Peter's and staff.

In lessons, the children have been using a newly-installed history timeline to reflect on Queen Elizabeth's extraordinary life and think about how she encompasses the school's values and Mustard Seed vision.

Pupils also performed a special Platinum Jubilee song with music teacher Mr Derbyshire, who was recently Scala Radio's Music Teacher of the Week.

The Reception class made their own special Jubilee afternoon tea and enjoyed making party bags, decorations and writing invites. One pupil, Freya, said it was "the best day ever!"

Meanwhile, St Peter's Ethos Council were also presented with special Queen Elizabeth books as they had recently won a Bible Society Jubilee Art Competition.
