Artisan market in Ashton to return this weekend

The artisan market in Market Square in Ashton is set to return on Saturday (29 May).

Organised by Tameside Council’s markets team and The Market Co, it now takes place on the last Saturday of every month between 10am and 4pm as a regular highlight on the town's calendar.

There will be something for everyone - from art and craft, to food and drink, design and even music, as well as authentic artisan goodies.

People attending are reminded to respect Covid guidelines by adhering to social distancing and wear a face covering if you can.

Last month's very first artisan market transformed Ashton town centre.

Around 100 traders set up unique stalls, offering handmade goods and delicious food, accompanied by entertainment from local musicians.

The day proved to be a huge success and gave much-needed support to local traders as they look to recover from the financial effects of the Covid pandemic.

The success of the market could lead to opportunities for similar events in other Tameside towns.
