Appeal for Easter egg donations for Tameside children

Two Tameside organisations are appealing to kind-hearted people for donations of Easter eggs which will be given to children in the borough.

Stronger Together Tameside, in conjunction with We Shall Overcome, have launched the appeal.

They have set a steep challenge to collect 1,300 chocolate eggs for youngsters who may not otherwise receive one to enjoy this Easter by Monday 1 March.

"With less than a week to collect the eggs, this is no small task and we hope you will be able to support this appeal," they said.

Eggs can be dropped off at The Station Hotel on Warrington Street in Ashton between 12pm and 4pm and The Town House on Burlington Street in Ashton between 10am and 7pm.

Collection of 25 eggs or more can be arranged by emailing enquiries@strongertogethertameside.co.uk

Due to quarantine and distribution, the final deadline for donations is Monday 1 March.

There has already been a great response to the appeal from throughout the Tameside community and beyond, with more than 400 eggs received so far.

Stronger Together Tameside is an umbrella organisation - which includes Tameside Council, Emmaus, Anew, food banks and more - to support the homeless and vulnerable in the borough.

Part of a national network, We Shall Overcome is run by community stalwart Pauline Town from the Station Hotel and Pub in Ashton and provides essential support to people in Tameside struggling with homelessness. It also has a community shop called ‘Second Avenue’ at 14 Market Avenue in Ashton.
