A purr-fect Rotary present for care home

Tameside Rotary has delivered another ‘Robotic Cat’ to a local care home.

The robotic cats have been hugely popular and a welcome gift to the care homes in Tameside. The cats are soft, move and purr to the sound of your voice and touch, providing dementia patients with comfort and company.

Tameside Rotary Vice President, Angela Robbins delivered one of the cats to Daisy Nook Care Home, where she received a warm welcome.

Sue Greenwood, whose mum is a resident at the home, had asked Tameside Rotary if it was possible for Daisy Nook Care Home to receive a cat as she had seen the campaign to raise money for the robotic creatures.

Care home manager Tracey Denton said they have 37 residents in the home and one gentleman has a cat at home called Sausage!

Angela asked if that was going to be the name of the robotic cat, to which Tracey said ‘Yes, why not?!’

Although they need all the additional help they can get, Daisy Nook Care Home is also very good at raising funds for themselves.

Lindsey Chalmers at the home organises raffles for the residents’ families and others to join in and during Covid they have raised an amazing £6,000.
