Tameside Council is hosting a drop-in event to launch their new cost of Living support campaign, Helping Hand Tameside.

Helping Hand Tameside aims to assists residents who are struggling with the cost of living and links them with a wealth of local support services. This includes support services who can help with finances, debt, housing, food, employment, mental health and wellbeing.

The drop-in will host stalls including welfare rights advice and Council tax support, Pension Top Up information and housing support. There will also be information on local food support and library services.

Be Well Tameside will also be offering a range of health and wellbeing support, advice on a range of day-to-day lifestyle issues areas such as stopping smoking, weight management and support around food, nutrition and healthy eating, increasing physical activity, reducing salt, sugar and caffeine, oral health and alcohol awareness.

Councillor Eleanor Wills, Tameside Council’s Executive Member for Health and Wellbeing, said: "With the cost of living rising at alarmingly increasing rates, the Helping Hand Tameside drop-in is the perfect opportunity for all residents to get advice and support in one place if they’re struggling with day to day costs.

"This event is the perfect opportunity for everyone to explore the support we have available in the borough. If you’ve never felt like you’ve needed the support before but you are struggling now, please attend and see what services can assist you.

"Helping Hand doesn’t only direct people to local support services to help with finance, housing and employment but also mental health and wellbeing services. Both of which I think go hand in hand and mental health and wellbeing should never be neglected."

The drop-in is for all Tameside residents and will have information pamphlets and in-person advice for those who struggle to get online.
