WATCH: Curzon chairman feels confident ahead of the season

Curzon Ashton chairman Wayne Salkeld speaks to Tameside Radio presenter Ian Cheeseman regarding his confidence for next season.

"It's always going to be a tough one with the calibre of clubs that we have in our league, but we're ready for a challenge," says Wayne after watching his team defeat Stalybridge Celtic 2-1 in pre-season.

Wayne says the club are 'as ambitious' as everyone else now, having had the extra time to prepare ahead of games due to the postponement of the season last year.

"We've got tremendous sponsorships who have been loyal through the pandemic and our revenue streams will open up now too. We're so happy to have people back on board and if it wasn't for our volunteers we wouldn't have a club," he says.

Wayne also speaks highly of club manager Steve Cunnigham, who will see his first season as the Ashton team's manager, speaking of how he has prepared his squad to face any challenges they may face.

"The manager is the rock of the club and there will always be uncertainty with a new squad, but we have full faith in our manager," he says.

Curzon are heading into their 6th season in the league and are ready to 'keep punching above their weight'.
