United Run Riot At Old Trafford

Premier League: Manchester United 4-0 Norwich City

It was a much-needed win for Manchester United over the weekend as they thumped Norwich 4-0 at Old Trafford thanks to a brace from Marcus Rashford and a goal each from Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.

United were quick to forget about their embarrassing 3-1 defeat at home to rivals Manchester City as they dominated Norwich from the start and looked extremely dangerous.

Marcus Rashford was making his 200th appearance for the Red Devils and he looked like a man in form. Rashford, 22, became the fourth-youngest player to reach the landmark for the club and opened the scoring in the first half by stabbing home Juan Mata's deep cross to the back post in the 27th minute.

In the 32nd minute, Rashford nearly had his second goal as he cut in from the left and curled a shot into the bottom left but Tim Krul saved well.

In the second half United stepped it up a gear and had the chance to go 2-0 up as the impressive Brandon Williams was brought down by Krul to give the hosts a penalty. Rashford stepped up and calmly smashed the ball home to make it a brace on his landmark day.

Just two minutes later it was 3-0 as Anthony Martial got in on the goal-scoring act by rising highest to nod in Juan Mata’s lovely cross.

Then we witnessed one of the misses of the season from young left-back Williams who wouldn’t have enjoyed watching it back. Pereira playing the ball across goal to Williams who blasted over the open goal from just yards out when it looked harder to miss.

The win was rounded off when promising striker Mason Greenwood stroked home a lovely effort from outside of the box into the bottom right corner sealing a 4-0 win.

United move back into fifth place, five points behind Chelsea, while the Canaries remain rooted to the foot of the division, a long seven points from safety having played a game more than the three teams above them.
