Tuesday's Football Results

A number of our teams were in cup action on Tuesday night.

In the Integro League Cup first round, Stalybridge Celtic progressed to the next stage after beating Ashton United 2-1. The visitors took the lead in the 12th minute through Nathan Vallentine, before Scott Bakkor added a second in the 68th minute. Celtic were unable to keep a clean sheet however, as Josh Wilson grabbed a consolatory effort in the 90th minute.

Droylsden have progressed to the Manchester Premier Cup semi-final after beating Mossley on penalties. The game ended 0-0 at the end of 90 minutes, and with the tie taken straight to penalties the Bloods won 3-2. They will now travel to the winner of Wythenshawe Town or Trafford.

Meanwhile, Hyde United were comprehensively beaten 3-0 by a well-drilled FC United of Manchester at Ewen Fields. Adam Dodd, Tunde Owelabi - the BetVictor Premier Division's leading scorer - and Adam Chapman sealed the Rebels' passage into the semi-final against Irlam or Maine Road at Broadhurst Park.

Curzon Ashton's Youth Team have also secured their place in the FA Cup third round after beating Oldham Athletic 3-2 at the Tameside Stadium. A Keaton Mulvey brace and solitary effort from Adam Grewal gave the Nash a memorable victory. Curzon will now face Burnley in the third round.
