Tuesday Night Football Results

A few of our sides were in action in various competitions on Tuesday night.

In the National League North, Curzon Ashton returned from Southport with a share of the points after drawing 0-0. The result leaves Adam Lakeland's side 10th in the table and three points outside the playoffs ahead of Saturday's home clash against Brackley Town in second place.

In the NPL Premier Division, Ashton United were on the wrong end of a seven-goal thriller at Grantham Town. Grantham's Ricky Miller was the star of the show with four goals on the evening.

The Robins fell a goal behind in the sixth minute but fought back to take a 3-1 lead, thanks to goals from Cole Lonsdale, Florian Ynsian and Nathan Ntalu. However, a disastrous ending to the game saw Grantham draw level with two penalties in quick succession. Miller converted both in the 84th and 90th minute, before grabbing the wining goal deep into injury time. Michael Clegg's side are now 18th in the table and host Atherton Collieries on Saturday.

At Bower Fold, Stalybridge Celtic had a night to forget after falling to a 5-1 defeat to Nantwich Town. Joseph Robbins gave the visitors the lead in the sixth minute, before Raul Correia drew Celtic level on the half hour mark. However, the equaliser mattered little, as Nantwich reasserted their lead in the 33rd minute through Jacob Bickerstaff. A superb second half saw the visitors make it 3-1 in the 54th minute thanks to Robbins, before Shaun Miller added a fourth in the 73rd minute. And the Dabbers put the icing on the cake with a fifth just two minutes later, Robbins netting the goal to secure a memorable hat-trick. Simon Haworth's side are back at Bower Fold on Saturday and host Whitby Town.
