Three local sides learn FA Cup fate

Curzon Ashton, Ashton United and Buxton FC have discovered their potential opponents in the third qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup.

National League North side Curzon will travel to Staffordshire to face Hednesford Town at Keys Park, if they get past Blyth Spartans in their second qualifying round replay.

Daniel Trickett-Smith scored his first goal for the club to equalise in the 92nd minute and earn a dramatic 4-4 draw at the Tameside Stadium on Saturday, as the Nash took Lee Clark's side to a replay at Croft Park on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, Ashton will host National League North side Spennymoor Town at Hurst Cross.

The Robins needed a replay to see off Tadcaster Albion in the first qualifying round before beating Pontefract Collieries 1-0 at Hurst Cross in Saturday's second qualifying round tie, after Steve Tames won and converted a penalty in the fourth minute.

Elsewhere, Buxton, who are currently second-bottom in the BetVictor Premier Division, will welcome National League North side York City to the Silverlands Stadium in a mouthwatering tie for the club.

The Bucks have thumped Romulus 4-0 away and Corby Town 5-0 at home to reach this stage of the competition, while Steve Watson's York side - who were in League Two as recently as the 2015/16 season - won 2-0 at Irlam in a match which was broadcast live by BBC Sport last weekend.

The ties will be played between Friday 4 and Monday 7 October, with details to be announced in due course.

The draw was conducted live on talkSPORT 2 on Monday afternoon, by presenter Tony Incenzo and Bournemouth chairman Jeff Mostyn.
