Ten Man Avro Rescue Point

Avro picked up a valuable point over the weekend as they fought back with ten men to draw 1-1 with 1874 Northwich at the Vestacare Stadium.

Avro came into the game on the back of a decent run of form which consisted of three wins in their last six which was much better compared to their form at the start of the season.

Their opponents 1874 Northwich were in a similar run of form with three wins from their last six meaning that this was a close match up with both teams occupying around mid-table.

The game started with Northwich looking the more comfortable of the two teams as they controlled the possession and passed it around. They had two big chances in the opening 20 minutes with Avro stopper Jordan Latham making two brilliant saves.

In the 39th minute, Avro had their big chance of the first half as Louis Potts smashed an effort off the post.

In the 55th minute, the game was turned on its head with Avro’s Kyle Jacobs seeing a straight red card for a dangerous tackle reducing Avro to ten men.

Just three minutes later Northwich were ahead as James Ormrod slotted home comfortably to put the visitors 1-0 up.

Northwich piled on the pressure but they couldn’t get the second goal that surely would’ve secured the three points.

Instead, Avro dramatically pulled a goal back with virtually the last kick of the game as Lewis Lacy headed home to rescue a point for Avro and maintain their mid-table position.

Definitely a point gained for Avro who now look forward to travelling Irlam in the Manchester Premier Cup.
