Speedway of Nations moved from Belle Vue due to Coronavirus spike

The Speedway of Nations, set to take place at Belle Vue later this month, has been moved due to a rise in Coronavirus cases across the UK

BSI Speedway have confirmed that this year’s title decider will be moved to a venue on mainland Europe, with the new hosts to be confirmed soon.

Belle Vue CEO Adrian Smith said: “While the club is naturally disappointed, we fully understand BSI Speedway’s decision and the continued safety and wellbeing of everyone involved in the event the main priority.

“This pandemic has caused unimaginable headaches for British Speedway, as it has other sports and businesses across the world.

“We have worked incredibly hard to get to a point where we can stage Speedway racing in Manchester in 2020.

“But the continuing Government announcements coupled with ongoing restrictions across Britain, particularly in relation to international sport, means it would be impractical for Manchester to host the Final.

“We are however, delighted that BSI Speedway want to return to the National Speedway Stadium for the 2021 Final and we look forward to working with them to make next year’s event one to remember.”

Belle Vue will stage a behind-closed-doors meeting on Thursday, September 24 against the ATPI All Stars which fans can watch via Live Stream at: bellevue-speedway.com/livestream.
