Roscoe header helps Hyde to victory

NPL Premier Division: Hyde United 1-0 Nantwich

Hyde United made it three league wins in as many games as they beat Nantwich Town 1-0 at the Project Solar UK Stadium.

Bradley Roscoe’s second half header gave the Tigers all three points - this coming from a brilliant corner delivered by Liam Tongue in the 65th-minute.

However, it wasn’t all plain sailing as the visitors had the majority of the chances, especially in the first half.

Several opportunities were created down their right, with Jamie Morgan a threat throughout the match.

That’s not to say the Tigers didn’t have their own chances, Roscoe cut inside from the right and earned a corner from his effort in the 12th-minute.

Jonah Mitchell tried his luck on the half-an-hour-mark, however, it came to nothing.

Just before the break it was Cameron Fogerty’s time to try and test Nantwich’s goal, however, his effort went wide.

The second-half was a much better showing for Hyde with the beating down rain and blustery wind calming.

With 25-minutes of normal time remaining the Tigers went ahead through Roscoe. The full-back’s header met Tongue’s corner.

Hyde, now with the lead, saw the take their time with phases of play and control the game.

This was until the final few minutes when the visitors went close to an equaliser, but for a fantastic double save by Joe Green in the Tigers goal.

After a minimum of three minutes added time the referee blew his whistle and Hyde secured three consecutive home league wins.

The victory means the Tigers move up to 16th in the table with 22 points and now travel to South Shields in league action next Saturday afternoon - kick-off is 3pm.
