Right Said Fred: Talking betting with Betfred boss Fred Done

Jadon Sancho is a cracking signing for United. He’s just what we need – and I reckon the ex-City man, who we bought from Dortmund for £73m, is going to boost our goal tally big time.

Betfred have him odds-on to score at least  ten goals in the new Premier League season, and 100/1 to score 20 or more.

We also have him 16/1 to be the PFA Player of the Year, and 50/1 to pick up the Golden Boot.

Three top players continue to dominate the football headlines with speculation mounting over whether Harry Kane, his England teammate Jack Grealish, and Erling Haaland make a big money switch this summer.

Betfred have City 1/2 to sign the Spurs Kane – with United 9/1, Chelsea 12/1 and PSG 20/1.

City are also favourites at EVS to capture Aston Villa’s midfield maestro Jack Grealish – United and Liverpool are 20/1.

Regarding Dortmund’s Norwegian ace Haaland, we have Chelsea 7/4 favourites to land his signature, with City and Real Madrid 4/1 shots and United 10/1.

THE Olympics and our medal flurry of late has had a dramatic effect on the betting for the 2021 BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

Tom Daley and Adam Peaty are the big movers having picked up golds in the 10m synchronised diving and 100m breaststroke respectively.

Daley is now as short as 6/1 to be named SPOTY, while Peaty is available at 12/1.

Sprinter Dina Asher-Smith is yet to compete in Tokyo and is already 4/1 favourite for the award – if she comes away with a medal in either the 100m or 200m she is bound to shorten further.

Meanwhile, cycling duo Laura and Jason Kenny, two of the most successful athletes in British history, are 7/1 and 20/1 respectively.

Of the non-Olympians, Isle of Man cyclist Mark Cavendish is 6/1 at Betfred to win the Sports Personality of the Year award, while Lewis Hamilton, who is looking to become the most successful F1 driver of all time by bettering Michael Schumacher’s seven World Championships, is 12/1.

CONGRATULATIONS to Jason Allsopp who loves to be by the seaside even more than ever after winning £65,489 at Betfred from a £2 Lucky 31 on the horses.

It was third time lucky for the 48-year-old as he rushed to put his regular bet on in Newquay where he’s enjoying a break with his family and friends.

The father-of-two from Driffield, East Yorkshire, who is on holiday in a Cornish cottage, nipped into the local Betfred shop while his wife Tracey and two young children were on the beach.

He said: “I was with my mate John who was hassling me telling me I never win, which is fair comment!

“Anyway, I started filling out the slip in the shop and realised I’d got it wrong and the first of my selection had already run and won. So I started again, this time selecting a non-runner, so I had to restart my slip for a third time.

“I just went for second or third favourites each time, completing the slip in five or six minutes. You need a lot of luck to win a Lucky 31.”

Jason opted for Kinross in the 3.00 Goodwood, Lord Riddiford in the 4.10 and Sisters In The Sky at 4.45.

He also went for Proud Archi in the 3.50 and Le Bayou in the 4.25 both at Beverley.

“I couldn’t believe it when all five horses had come in. We’re all going for a slap up meal, including John and his family, to celebrate. I’ll also be getting some more computer games for our children which I wouldn’t normally do.”

“Funnily enough, this time last year when we were on holiday I put a bet on in Falmouth and four of my five selections came in, also on a Lucky 31, and picked up £5,700.”

Jason, who owns a second hand car trading business, AAR, in Scarborough, plans to put all his winnings into his business that was so badly hit by Covid.

“No one was able to test drive cars during lockdown – that was my big problem,” said Jason, who runs the business with his wife Tracey.

There must be something in the sea air down there. To pick my pocket two years running on a similar bet is very special.

Jason is a regular customer who deserves his good fortune – and good luck getting your business back up and running.

WORKAHOLIC Catherine Bedford is “king of the hill” after winning big   on the New York lotto at Betfred!

As Frank Sinatra would swoon she’s spreading the news after smashing the odds to pick up £25,000  from a ONE POUND punt.

Catherine, a 52 year old mother of one from Barnsley, randomly picked the numbers 16, 52, 54 and 57…and they all came out.

Never has there been a more  deserving winner, for Catherine has always worked as a sewing machinist and sports trophy engraver.

She’s twice been made redundant  but has kept on working  - and now has two jobs as a primary school cleaner and hotel house keeper.

“I’m not giving up either job…I’m not one for sitting around,” said Catherine who celebrated her good fortune with a family barbeque.

She went on: “I found out I had won just as I was about to go to bed – and I was that giddy I couldn’t sleep.   We celebrated with a barbeque at which we had some extra sausages!

“We have needed new windows and a new door at the terraced house where I live with my partner Ian and 21 year old son Henry….so that’s what I will be spending a fair amount on.

“I have always told Henry who is a plasterer he’s got to work hard for a new car but I think there will be a surprise Ford Fiesta for him. I just can’t believe how lucky I have been. It hasn’t sunk in yet.”

Catherine is a very worthy winner. She’s a hard working lady who fully deserves a break - and I’m absolutely delighted to have my pocket picked by her to the tune of £25,000 from just a £1 layout. Congratulations to Catherine who, like many folk from Yorkshire would do, has decided to do something practical to do with her winnings.
