Right Said Fred: Talking betting with Betfred boss Fred Done

France have joined England as 5/1 favourites at Betfred to win Euro 2020.

Belgium are next at 6/1, ahead of regular tournament winners Germany (15/2) and both Portugal and Spain (8/1).

Betfred also have Italy and Holland at 11/1, while Wales are 125/1 – and Scotland are amongst the outsiders at 250/1.

Man of the moment Harry Kane, who has sparked a £150m manhunt by declaring his intention to leave Spurs, is 5/1 to be the tournament’s top scorer.

Two Manchester United old boys – Romelu Lukaku for Belgium and Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo – are up there with Kane at 8/1 and 9/1 to be top scorer, ahead of France’s Mbappe at 9/1.

To be player of the tournament, Kane is 16/1 behind Kylian Mbappe, the 9/1 favourite, and Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne at 10/1.

Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United’s Player of the Year for the second season running and favourite to be crowned PFA Player of the Year, is 20/1 at Betfred to be named player of the tournament – while Phil Foden is 25/1 alongside City teammate Raheem Sterling.

Of the other English players, Betfred have Jack Grealish 40/1 to steal the show – the same price as United’s Marcus Rashford.

Meanwhile, Jordan Henderson and Harry Maguire are 50/1 and 66/1 respectively.

There is always going to be patriotic punters out there, but this year I really do believe England have got a brilliant chance of going all the way.

Gareth Southgate’s squad is full of talent – the big difficulty for our coach is getting the balance right in his starting eleven.

France, with Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann, are always going to be strong, while Belgium look brilliant on paper with Lukaku, Hazard and De Bruyne certain starters.”

IT’S going to be one heck of  a summer on the transfer front with City and United both in the market for a world class striker.

And guess what two are up for grabs…Erling Haaland and Harry Kane.

Frankly I wouldn’t mind either at Old Trafford and no doubt my few City pals think the same about one of the two, who are both in the £150m-plus bracket, lining up at the Etihad.

Dortmund’s Norwegian superstar Haaland is at 20, seven years younger than England skipper Kane who is proven in the Premier League and would therefore adjust quickest and be more of an instant success.

Anyway I have high hopes they are both  coming to Manchester – and Betfred are 33/1 that Kane ends up a Blue AND Haaland a Red while we are 8/1 that Kane joins United AND City splash out on the great potential of Haaland.

United need to get out the cheque book big time that’s for sure and take advantage of this once in a life time opportunity and sign one  of them two PLUS Jadon Sancho - otherwise we are going to slip even further behind City.

The only fly in the ointment remains Barcelona who  I have checking always seem to figure in the big-money transfers.

With Sergio Aguero leaving City, there is a vacancy up front in Pep Guardiola's title winning team. That’s just one of several reasons why it was 3/1 back in April that City would sign Kane in the summer window while now the odds have shortened to 2/1.

United were 5/2 for Harry the Hitman's signature last month, but that's since drifted to 3/1.

It's understood that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy doesn't want to sell Kane to an English rival but the 27-year-old, who has a young family, is thought to prefer to remain in this country.

After the two Manchester clubs, Betfred have Paris Saint-Germain 12/1 to land Kane - while Real Madrid and Barcelona are both 20/1 shots.

Italian pair Juventus and Inter are 33/1 to land his signature, while Liverpool, who are looking to boost their firepower after failing to reach the heights of last season, are 40/1.

What about a return to his former club? Arsenal, where Kane honed his skills, are 150/1 to splash the cash on Spurs' talisman striker this summer.

City are 6/4 favourites with Betfred ahead of Barca (4/1), Real Madrid (5/2) to land Haaland while United have been shortened to 9/1 with fans piling intense pressure on the Glazers to spend big so Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a chance of bringing back the glory years. One thing for sure it’s going to be a very interesting summer off the pitch as well as on it.

TURNING to the Betfred Super League and it was a spirited fightback by Warrington – but coach Steve Price will be angry that they shouldn’t have been 20-0 down to Huddersfield at the break.

The Wire defence was certainly problematic in the first period as the Giannts recorded only their second win of the season while over in St Helens the Saints were piling on the agony on Salford, chalking up a 28-0 home win..

Of course the big winner were the fans with four thousand back at all grounds for the first time in 14 months since the pandemic struck.

The noise, chanting etc certainly added to the atmosphere and drama of the fight back - and was a big reminder of what we’ve been missing with so many games having to be played in empty stadiums.

Betfred have Warrington, who need to quickly get back to winning ways if they are to challenge Saints and Wigan at the top of the table, at 1/ 2 to pick up both points with the Tigers at 13/8. Wigan meanwhile are odds on to beat struggling Salford earlier on Saturday.
