Jon serves up singles' victory

Glossop Tennis Club has hosted the first of its in-house winter tournaments.

The club kicked off with the men’s singles competition.

Winning the tournament this year was Jon Horlock, who beat Billy Craven in the final 6-3 6-4. 

Jon said: “This was a tough one, but I felt positive going into it and it’s always great to lift that trophy.”

Club chairman Marcus Gill said: “We all look forward to these tournaments every year because they are a good laugh with plenty of good natured banter, but also it’s good to play competitively and pit your skills against other club members. 

“The weather was with us on the day and I hope its the same when we hold our doubles, mixed doubles and ladies tournaments over the coming weeks.”
