Joanne Is Smashing Her Charity Challenge

A charity fundraiser is currently six days into a mammoth challenge in a bid to raise funds for the Brathay Trust.

Joanne Egerton, who runs for the Hyde Village Striders, had decided to take on the 10 in 10 Windermere Challenge - regarded as one of the UK's toughest feats - which will challenge her to ten marathons in ten days.

Joanne, who is among 25 people in the UK to have been selected for the challenge, is looking to raise £4,500, and has so far received donations totalling £4,262 on her Justgiving page.

The fitness enthusiast has been posting regular updates of her efforts since the challenge began on May 13, which can be found the the following link on her donation page. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Joanne-Egerton1?fbclid=IwAR2kjlyaVBMRz9Sqi4C2fi10WUOJPo2x-0zv-YYwc1G6NGYIKtNoWHc1Hbk

We spoke to Joanne a few months ago about the reasons behind the challenge.

Joanne prepares for marathon madness

A fitness enthusiast is preparing to take on the biggest challenge of her life. Joanne Egerton, who represents the Hyde Striders, is set to complete ten marathons in ten consecutive days as part of the Brathay Trust 10in10. The epic challenge will take place in May this year. There are only 22 people in the UK taking part and it is considered to be the UK's toughest challenge. Joanne has created a JustGiving page which has so far generated £1,651 towards a £4,500 target. Joanne has been helped on her fundraising journey by St John's Church Of England Primary School in Dukinfield, who raised a fantastic £1,500 with their own spin on Joanne's challenge. During our visit to St John's, we spoke to Joanne to get her thoughts ahead of the challenge, and we also spoke to headteacher Vicki Lee-Hewitt.
