Hyde progress in Cheshire Senior Cup

Cheshire Senior Cup Second Round: Warrington Town 2-5 Hyde United

Hyde United bounced back from the disappointment of the New Year's Day defeat to Mickleover by securing their place in the Cheshire Senior Cup quarter-final.

The Tigers, who entered the game having suffered a 4-1 defeat three days earlier, beat Warrington Town 5-2 at Canteliever Park.

Jim Gannon's side came from behind twice in the clash to earn the victory, with goals courtesy of Harry Bennis, Tom Pratt, Jordan Fagbola, and a Jonah Mitchell brace.

Mitchell, who joined the club over summer from NIFL Championship side Queens University FC, recently agreed a deal until the end of the season.

The Northern Irishman has made quite the impact at Ewen Fields, notching six times in 14 appearances.

On signing his contract, Mitchell spoke to Hyde's media team and said: ‘’I’m really enjoying my football here at Hyde, since coming over to the area, it’s been great to join a team looking to push on. You never know what to expect coming over to a different country and some of the teams I didn’t really know about which has probably worked in my favour so you go and play free and play your own game.’’
