Hyde CC bolster squad ahead of 2022 campaign

Hyde Cricket Club have bolstered their first team squad ahead of the 2022 campaign.

The Werneth Low outfit, who finished 8th in the Cheshire County League Premier Division last season, have captured the signing of all-rounder Andrew Jackson from Toft CC.

Described as a wicket taking opening bowler, Jackson joins the club due to relocating to Manchester due to work commitments.

Jackson will be lead into next season by new skipper Danny Cranmer. Cranmer spoke to Hyde's website and said he was delighted to sign Jackson ahead of a new season in the Premier Division. "We have been a big admirer of Andrew’s for a number of years and we are extremely pleased to sign someone of his quality. After Jason Whittaker decided to leave the club after eight fantastic seasons opening the bowling, it was imperative that we tried to find someone to replace Jason. For me Andrew is one of the finest all rounders in the league and I believe he will be a huge success at Hyde with both bat & ball.’

Andrew had the following to say upon joining the club: "I am really looking forward to playing at Hyde, a place I’ve always enjoyed playing at with other sides, the club leaders have a great vision which I look forward to being a part of."

Cranmer takes the reigns at Werneth Low following Tom Partidge's decision to step down after three seasons. Cranmer, who has also played for Denton CC and Denton St Lawrence CC, said he was delighted to adopt the role. "I'm extremely proud to have been asked to be the next Captain of Hyde CC 1st team and I'd like to thank the club for their support and trust in me for the forthcoming season.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank Tom for his previous 3 years in charge. For a young player at the time to take charge of a team that was newly promoted, he showed great maturity and leadership. In doing so he led us to Cheshire Cup silverware in his first year.

"I'm taking over the role at a very exciting time, with a new generation of players.

"Hyde have some of the best young players in the county and with them already showing that they can compete at this level and gaining valuable experience, I can't wait to see what the future holds for Hyde."
