Fawns returns to Seel Park

Former NPL West Player of the Year, Mason Fawns, has returned to Mossley after a year away.

After leaving Seel Park, the creative number 10 started last season with Bootle, before Kidsgrove Athletic signed him in October 2023 for an undisclosed fee.

Lilywhites manager David Fish told the club’s website: “There’s very little I need to tell the fans about Mason. I didn’t want him to leave 13 months ago and I’m ecstatic that he’s coming ‘home’.

“He brings quality, will create chances and score goals. He’ll demand more of others and lift everyone around him. He is already a hero to many of the fans and now has a chance to really establish himself as a Mossley legend.”

The 25-year-old began his career in the youth setups at Blackburn Rovers and Oldham Athletic, before spells as Curzon Ashton, Altrincham and Ramsbottom United established his non-League credentials.

However, it was his two seasons with Mossley where he really caught the eye, scoring 26 goals in 71 games, and propelling the team to consecutive Top 8 finishes.

As well as Fawns, Mossley boss David Fish has added more two new faces to his squad ahead of pre-season training.

Mercurial winger Obua Mugalula makes the short journey to Seel Park from Stalybridge Celtic, where he scored five goals and made six assists last term.

The Salford-based 24-year-old scored four goals in the Cumbrian county cup final for Workington the previous year, and has turned out for St Helens Town and Irlam in the North West Counties Football League.

Before playing in non-League, he began his career as a youth team player at West Ham United and Bolton Wanderers.

“I’m really looking forward to this season and playing under David,” he told the club’s website. “He’s a great manager and has really shown trust in me.”

Former Polish Under-17 international Kacper Mialkowski also arrives at Seel Park.

The full-back came through the academy at Rochdale, making his first team debut in the Checkatrade Trophy against Manchester United Under-21s as a 16-year-old in 2020, a game they lost on penalties after a 0-0 draw.

A left-sided player, he has also played in the Northern Premier League for Glossop North End and 1874 Northwich.
