Curzon make two more additions

Curzon Ashton have recruited another two players for their upcoming National League North campaign.

After a tremendous second half of the season for Mossley, the lively Ben Darby joins the Nash’s midfield.

The teenager came through the ranks at FC Halifax Town and Stockport County, before starting last year with Glossop North End.

His eye-catching performances soon attracted Lilywhite boss, David Fish, who brought him to Seel Park in November 2023.

“I feel like it’s been a long time coming,” Darby told Curzon’s YouTube channel. “I heard about it at the back end of last season, so to finally be in is something I’m really looking forward to.

“I’m someone who’s going to come in and work really hard, whether that’s coming off the bench or starting.”

Also joining Craig Mahon’s side is Timi Sobowale, who spent the final month of last season with Nantwich Town.

The fleet-footed full-back, 22, spent three years with Manchester City, where he won caps for the Irish Under-17, -18, -19 and -20 international sides.

He then spent a year in the US with Real Salt Lake feeder club, Real Monarchs, before returning to the UK with Wigan Athletic. Before landing at Nantwich, he had stints at Waterford – alongside his brother Tunmise, who now plays for Shrewsbury Town in League One - and Norwegian fourth tier side Florø.

“I can’t thank that club enough for what they did for me,” Sobowale said of his time with the Dabbers. “The gaffer (Paul Carden) was amazing.

"Expect a lot of power on the wing. I’m defensively good in 1-v-1s and the duels, and hopefully I can score and assist in a couple of goals.”

Darby and Sobowale join Michael Afuye, who last week became Curzon’s first arrival of the new season.
