Curzon extend unbeaten run to four games

National League North: Curzon Ashton 0-0 Kettering Town

Curzon extended their unbeaten run to four matches with a hard fought goalless draw against Kettering Town at the Tameside Stadium on Monday night.

Chances were at a premium for both sides in a rather dull clash, although Curzon goalkeeper Cameron Mason had to be alert on a number of occasions to keep his side level.

The result leaves the Nash four points above the relegation zone ahead of Saturday’s home clash against Hereford, who are currently five points outside the play-offs.

l In player news, the club has signed Ethan Beckford and Lewis Doyle.

Beckford, a striker, joins on a permanent deal from Penn State University which he left in the summer.

The 20-year old was born in Manchester but also holds citizenship in Canada, where he

played for MLS side Toronto FC.

He made several appearances for their development team Toronto FC II in the USL.

In 2017 he began playing college football for Penn State University’s soccer team where he became an integral member of the squad until leaving in the summer to pursue his career in Europe.

Doyle, 19, has been brought in on an initial month’s loan from Accrington Stanley.

The midfielder was a summer signing at the Crown Ground from Southport, where he previously played alongside the Nash’s Liam Davies.
