Captain Keogh helps Mossley to victory

Pre-Season Friendly: Campion 0-3 Mossley

Mossley's pre season program continued on Saturday with the return of spectators to football as the Lilywhites won 3-0 at Bradford based Northern Counties East leaguers Campion AFC.

The Lilywhites were dominant throughout much of game playing some excellent pass and move football at a good tempo. The midfield trio of Keogh, Kershaw and Hickman were particularly influential.

Kershaw, Fitzgerald, Grundy, Hickman and Waller all came close to opening the scoring before skipper Andy Keogh did so on 25 minutes as he headed home Ben Richardson's right wing corner at the near post.

The home side had an unexpected chance to equalise shortly before the break when Lovell brought down a Campion forward injuring himself ion the process. However, the Mossley number 1 redeemed himself with a fine save, diving to his right to keep out the Campion number 9's well struck spot kick.

Mossley came close to doubling the lead early in the second half as Harry Pratt hit the bar with a powerful effort from the edge of the box.

The Lilywhites finally doubled their advantage on 64 minutes. Evans' precise through ball found Shenton who saw his effort come back off a post but Harry Pratt was hand to slot home the rebound from the tightest of angles.

A couple more chances came and went before Mossley completed the scoring in the 83rd minute. Shenton's precise cross from the right was deftly headed home by Andy Keogh for his second and Mossley's third of the afternoon.

Next stop in the Lilywhites pre-season build up is on Tuesday evening at Stockport Town.
