Bloods battered by Ramsbottom

BetVictor North West: Ramsbottom United 5-0 Droylsden

The Bloods crashed to defeat against high flying Ramsbottom despite playing much of the game against ten men.

Iyrwah Gooden saw red for the home team after just 13 minutes for a challenge on Tom Moore.

The home side were already in front though, Josh Hmami lobbing the advancing Thompson after the Bloods' defence switched off and it could have been much worse for Dave Pace’s team, an unmarked Ritchie Baker heading wide from a corner and Thompson saving from close range from Gooden as the defence looked vainly for an offside flag.

At the other end Jack Kay had a glorious opportunity to level after Wilkins broke down the right but overran the ball allowing Stewart a touch.

Droylsden took control of the game after the sending off but created little, Webb Foster should have done better with a header at the far post from Rigby’s floated cross and the same player saw another effort hit the side netting.

Deep into first my half injury time, Rammy got a second, an Evangelinos free kick headed home by Hmami.

A minute after the resumption, the home side put the game beyond doubt, Evangelinos tapping home after Thompson saved from former Blood Ruben Jerome.

The Bloods though had two glorious opportunities within a minute, Kay’s effort at the back post coming off the post and then Webb Foster’s shot clipping the bar.

Pace made a triple substitution bringing in Smith, Murray and Clooney but as they pressed forward, Ramsbottom took advantage at the back, first sub Daniel Naidole chipping the advancing Thompson with a quarter of an hour to go before Karl Jones tapped in from a few yards out to end a disappointing trip for the Bloods.
