Are Holding and Clough set for moves?

Former West Hill School pupil Rob Holding has been transfer listed by Arsenal, as Gunners boss Mikel Arteta looks to reshape his squad ahead of the 2020/21 season.

It has been reported that Holding is one of 15 players up for sale at the Emirates Stadium.

The 24-year-old joined the club from Bolton Wanderers in July 2016 and has since been part of a squad that has won the FA Cup twice.

Holding is being linked with a move to Leeds United, who secured their place in the Premier League for the first time in 16 years after winning the Championship title under manager Marcelo Bielsa.

Meanwhile, former Audenshaw School pupil Zach Clough is being linked with a move to Greek side, Atromitos.

The 25-year-old Nottingham Forest striker has been frozen out of the squad since Sabri Lamouchi took charge of the Reds.

He joined the club on deadline day in January 2017 for a reporter £2 million and became an instant fans’ favourite at the City Ground - most notably scoring the opening goal in the 2-2- draw against rivals Derby County in March 2018.

In other news, former Audenshaw School pupil Andy Welsh has been appointed as the first ever manager of Bury AFC.

The 36-year-old started his professional career with Stockport County and made 85 appearances for the Hatters, before securing a move to Sunderland who were then in the Premier League.

After retiring from the game, Welsh took up his first managerial position at Ossett United, where he guided the squad to county cup success and the playoffs.
