Woman in critical condition after being hit by car in Oldham

A woman is fighting for her life in hospital after being hit by a car when crossing the road in Oldham town centre.

Greater Manchester Police were called to Oldham Way at around 7.40pm on Wednesday evening (2 February) to reports that a female pedestrian had been struck by a Vauxhall Corsa. 

Emergency services attended and the woman, a 38-year-old, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. She remains there in a critical condition. 

The driver of the Corsa stayed at the scene to assist police, GMP has said. 

The road was closed westbound between Cross Street and Prince Street whilst investigation work was carried out.
