Two elderly women in serious condition in hospital after hit-and-run

Two elderly woman are in a serious condition in hospital following a hit-and-run in Chadderton. 

Emergency services were called to Broadway on Tuesday evening (1 March) at around 6.20pm. 

Two cars - an Audi A4 and a Suzuki Swift - had crashed at the junction of Broadway and Eaves Lane.

The Audi fled the scene following the crash, Greater Manchester Police said. 

Two women in the Suzuki - aged in their 60s and 70s - were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Both currently remain in hospital, one in a critical condition.

Sergeant Andrew Page, of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This was a serious collision which has left two elderly women in a serious condition in hospital.

"A full investigation is currently underway to establish the full circumstances of this collision and locate the driver of the Audi. We're appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed the collision or the two vehicles in the area at the time to get in touch with police.

"I would urge anyone in the area at the time to check their dash-cam or CCTV footage as you may be holding footage that could greatly assist our enquiries."
