Two arrested after weapons and ammo seized in Failsworth

A man wanted by police has been arrested after two weapons and ammunition were recovered from a house in Failsworth.

At around 1.20pm on Monday (26 July), Oldham South's Neighbourhood Policing Team attended an address on Alder Road.

During a search of the address, a sawn off shotgun along with 15 cartridges of ammunition were seized.

Officers also found a converted pistol containing five rounds of ammunition in the magazine.

At the time of the search, a 41-year-old woman was also arrested at the house.

Police say she has since been bailed and enquiries are ongoing.

Another suspect was later found on Wednesday (28 July) in a hotel in Oldham.

Inspector Christian Julien, of GMP's Oldham district, said: "These actions are a testament to the skill and dedication put in by all officers involved to help dismantle serious crime across Greater Manchester.

"The damaging impact of criminal activity can be felt across communities. GMP continues to be committed to identifying this activity and ensuring those responsible faces the appropriate justice.

"Often our investigations are supported by intelligence passed to us by members of the public so I would encourage anyone with information that could assist on our enquiries to get in touch with police."

Anyone with information or concerns should contact police online via www.gmp.police.uk or 101. Always call 999 in an emergency.

Details can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
