Three hospitalised in two-car crash

Three people were taken to hospital following a crash between two cars in Grasscroft on Saturday afternoon (9 November).

Police, paramedics and fire crews were called to Oldham Road shortly after 4pm. 

Fire crews used cutting equipment to rescue a woman who became trapped inside one of the vehicles and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Two other casualties, believed to be women, were treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital, with their injuries not thought to be life-threatening. 

A section of Oldham Road was closed while emergency services responded. 

Police say no arrests have yet been made.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 4.17pm on 9 November, two fire engines from Mossley and Stalybridge and the Technical Reponse Unit from Ashton-under-Lyne attended a road traffic collision on Oldham Road, Grasscroft.

"The incident involved two vehicles and one casualty was rescued from a vehicle by firefighters using cutting equipment and taken to hospital by ambulance.

"Three other casualties involved in the incident were treated at the scene by North West Ambulance Service before being taken to hospital.

"Fire crews remained at the scene for one hour."
