The Latics Travel To Bradford

Oldham will be looking to put a poor start to the season behind them and pick up their first points of the season at former League One side Bradford City.

Oldham will be looking to put a poor start to the season behind them and pick up their first points of the season at former League One side Bradford City. Laurent Banide’s side bowed out of the Carabao Cup at Ewood Park in midweek after conceding two 90th minute goals to lose 3-2.

After the game, Banide said, “After the game we were sad, but we’ve had time to see the game and the players played better than last game.” He said.

“It was important to see them improve and we need to continue like that, we need to look at the details because there is a lot of work that needs to be done with the team and they want to work hard.”

The Latics have struggled in the league so far after taking no points from their opening two games. Their first defeat came away at Forest green Rovers on the opening day of the season and they followed that with a 2-1 loss at home to Crewe Alexandra.

Oldham are still monitoring the fitness of new signing David Wheater. The defender has missed the last two games and there is no indication whether he will feature tomorrow. Tomas Egert and Marvin Kokos are yet to feature this season and Banide has stated they still need more time to recover and will miss tomorrow.

Banide has also spoken of the importance the fans to their success. He stated, “The supporters need to see the work that we give because everyone works a lot here.”

“The fans in the stand and the players on the field must work a lot to push the level and we need to do that to become better and better because everybody is in the same project.

“We need the fans to help us because it’s important to have a little bit more of a push on the pitch.”

Oldham’s opponents Bradford have endured a tough fall from grace since the start of last season. Just two seasons ago The Bantams lost in the League One play-off final to Millwall and then the following season they were relegated into League Two. The club has struggled to adapt to League Two so far after only taking two points from their opening two games. Bradford were one of the favourites for promotion before the season kicked off and with them still finding their feet could this be the perfect time for Oldham to face them?
