Saddleworth Rotary Club have donated £500 to the Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC).

Recognising the experience and the wide range of services offered by the 15 charities that make up the DEC, Saddeworth Rotary Club members felt the donation, when added to many others who have contributed to this joined-up effort, would help a wide range of Ukrainians caught up in this ongoing disaster.

As the humanitarian crisis worsens in Ukraine, innocent people of all ages are being drawn into the conflict. The need for more aid across a range of pressing needs from basic food and accommodation, support for those fleeing conflict to medical interventions is becoming more acute.

Dr Ian Brett, the President of Saddleworth Rotary Club, said: “We all felt the need to support the Ukrainian people in this time of need and the scale of the problems and wide range of support required lead us to contribute to the Disaster Emergency Committee with its 14 charities working closely together to provide a very wide range of services for those caught up in this crisis.”
