Saddleworth choir will be on song in virtual concert

Saddleworth Male Voice Choir will be holding a virtual concert to mark St George's Day, which will support the choir and its chosen charity Mobiloo.

It will be on Saturday (24 April) from 7pm and will be available to view on the choir's YouTube channel, as well as its Facebook and Twitter accounts.

The concert will feature a number of new items from the choir, recorded virtually during lockdown and some pre-recorded favourites.

A spokesperson for the choir said: "We are also delighted to be including performances from many of our friends and previous SMVC concert performers including Saddleworth Singers, Austonley Brass, April Grime, The Oldham Tinkers, Chapel-en-le-Frith Ladies Choir, John Pierce, The Hometowners with Tony Downes, Bernard Wrigley and The Broadway Big Band.

Donations will be welcome to support the choir and the charity Mobiloo, whose mission is to enable disabled people to attend any event or activity - events from which they are often excluded due to lack of adequate facilities.

For the second successive year, the choir has been unable to hold its annual concert at Uppermill Civic Hall due to the coronavirus pandemic - during which they have been busy rehearsing and recording online.
