Oldham man is fourth person charged over armed robberies

A 46-year-old man from Oldham has been charged in connection with a series of armed robberies in Greater Manchester.

Mohammed Fareed, of Lorne Street, has been charged with one count of conspiracy to commit robbery and three breaches of a serious crime prevention order.

He has been remanded to appear at Tameside Magistrates Court later today (Thursday).

The charge comes following a strike day in the Oldham area yesterday (Wednesday). 

The strikes were conducted as part of an investigation in to a series of armed robberies following false advertisements on the online auction website Ebay.

During the strikes, a further two people – aged 18 and 26 – were arrested and have been bailed pending further investigation.

Three people were previously charged in connection with the investigation on February 16 and are due to appear at Manchester Crown Court on Monday (16 March).
