Oldham Look To Bounce Back As They Host Exeter

Oldham Athletic look to secure their first points of the season, at the fourth time of asking, as they host Exeter.

Oldham Athletic look to secure their first points of the season, at the fourth time of asking, as they host Exeter. Oldham currently sit bottom of the League Two table and are currently the only team in the division not to have secured a point yet. Their opponents, on the other hand, have started their season as they sit in second place and were agonisingly close to beating fellow table-toppers Swindon on the weekend. To make tonight’s task even harder for the Latics, Exeter have only conceded once so far which is the same amount as Oldham have managed to score.

Oldham’s last game was a tough one to take for the fans who expect a club of their stature to be performing much better. A convincing 3-0 defeat at Bradford showed that Oldham might be in for a tough season and that new manager Laurent Banide may have his work cut out.

Speaking after the game Banide said "It was a disappointing result and we made a big tactical fault. When you give two goals it's difficult to win."

He added: "So it's difficult for everybody but it's football and we must have a reaction in the next game."

Oldham will be hoping that new signing David Wheater is fit after he has missed the last three games. At the back, Oldham have looked fragile since Wheater has been out and centre-back Sonhy Sefil has looked unconvincing. Chris Eagles is looking to improve his fitness and could even make the squad for tonight’s game.

It’s going to be an incredibly tough game for Oldham tonight at boundary Park but with the Latics faithful behind them they will be looking to secure their first win of the season and under Laurent Banide.
