Oldham Hulme Grammar School celebrates 'excellent' A Levels

Top grades up three per cent as school records 98 per cent pass rate

Oldham Hulme Grammar School sixth form students are celebrating this morning after achieving another set of excellent A Level results.

More than a third of grades achieved (36 per cent) were at A*/A, and in total 61 per cent of Hulme’s grades were at A*-B leve. Both these statistics rose by three per cent this year.

At the very top end, a third of students achieved at least two A grades, 22 per cent achieved at least three A grades, and 20 per cent of the students secured at least 1 A*. The overall pass rate was 98 per cent.

There were a number of outstanding individual performances.

Bradley Thompson achieved four A* grades and has secured a place at Magdalene College, Cambridge, to read Natural Sciences.

Megan Brierley secured three A* grades: she is going to Nottingham also to study Natural Sciences. Both Eleanor Dawson and Lydia Entwistle achieved two A* and one A grades.

Eleanor has accepted a place at Durham to read Psychology, and Lydia will be studying Biology at York. In addition, a further seven Hulme students achieved one A* and two A grades.

A statement released by the school stated: "At Hulme we believe in supporting all of our students to achieve their potential, whatever that is. The school is delighted with these impressive results, which are a reflection first and foremost of the efforts of our pupils, as well as the dedication of the staff at Hulme.

"Our Year 13 can look forward to taking up the top university places they have secured, and the school wishes them every success for the future.
