Murder investigation launched as man dies after 'disturbance'

A murder investigation is under way after a man died following a 'disturbance' on a street in Derker.

Greater Manchester Police were called at around 9.30am on Friday morning (15 October) to a report of a disturbance at an address on Frances Street. 

Emergency services attended and the victim, named as 60-year-old Bob Payne, was taken to hospital with critical injuries. 

Two men were later charged in relation to the incident.

Christopher Kennedy, 25, of Yorkshire Street, Oldham, has been charged with Section 47 assault, while Jamie Kennedy, 24, also of Yorkshire Street, Oldham, has been charged with Section 18 assault.

Both men have been remanded in custody.

Police confirmed on Monday (18 October) that Mr Payne has sadly died of his injuries whilst still in hospital and the force's Major Incident Team have subsequently launched a murder investigation. 

Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses, or any information - including dashcam of CCTV footage - that may assist the investigation.
