Fifteen members of Oldham Mountain Rescue Team spent an hour and 15 minutes on Wednesday afternoon helping to evacuate a woman who had fallen from her bike and injured her ankle cycling around Dovestones.

The team were contacted by North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

OMRT leader Rob Tortoishell said: "Fortunately, a team member was working nearby and able to get to the scene very quickly, which allowed us to direct the NWAS ambulance crew to the casualty.

“After some pain relief and splinting, she was packaged on our stretcher before being taken down for transfer to the NWAS ambulance and onward transport to hospital.

“We wish the casualty all the best for a speedy recovery,” he added.
