Oldham Mountain Rescue Team's search dog Bob has become a teenager after celebrating his 13th birthday on Sunday (27 June).

He was nine weeks old when he became part of Mick Nield's family and a member of Oldham MRT.

His handler Mick, from Mossley, wanted to train a dog when he first joined the mountain rescue back in the late 80s but after becoming Team Leader in the early 90s, the dream was pushed back until 2008 when he became Bob’s the proud handler.

Bob came off working stock from a farm near to Appleby in the Eden Valley.

He began his first training weekend in November 2008 and graded as a search dog with SARDA England in January 2011.

Since then he’s attended most incidents with Mick until last year when he’s taken a back seat on the operational side.
