Mahdlo Youth Zone is calling on young people from across Oldham to get creative and enter a competition to create the winning design that will be brought to life and feature on its new minibus.
Last year, in the middle of the pandemic, the Mahdlo minibus was stolen and unfortunately has not been recovered.
However, through the support of the local community, the charity was able to purchase a new minibus and is now looking to make it stand out and be recognised all across Oldham, with the bus being wrapped in the winning design.
The competition is open to any young person from years 2 – 11 (7 – 16 year old) and closes on Tuesday 25 May. The winning design will be unveiled on Monday 28 June.
The winning designer will win an iPad Mini, their class will receive a year’s free membership to Mahdlo and free use of Mahdlo’s facilities and equipment for a day. The winning designer will also receive a framed print of the winning design to display in their school.
Mahdlo’s Kate Bennet told us: “We’re asking young people of Oldham to create a design using the theme ‘What Oldham means to you’ and incorporate our values of; Passion, Respect, Inclusion, Dependability, Excellence. Every young person that enters will receive a voucher for a free session at Mahdlo.”
The competition will be judged by leading businesses from across Oldham - including Osborne Delta, Swans Travel, OMC Motorgroup and Mahdlo’s very own minibus driver Alan Whitehead.
Participating schools signed up so far are: Alt Primary School, Beever Primary School, Holy Cross Primary School, Hulme Grammar School, Lyndhurst Primary School, Mayfield Primary School, Medlock Valley Primary School.
