How you can support Saddleworth Museum this winter

Saddleworth Museum has planned a series of online events for the month ahead.

Beginning on November 28, guests can virtually access the ‘Winter Exhibition 2020-2021’. In collaboration with the Saddleworth Group of Artists, the exhibition showcases the paintings of talented local artists.

On December 1, festive lights are going to be switched on outside the museum from late afternoon to early evening.

Saturday, December 5, sees Santa come to town. Volunteers are constructing Santa’s Grotto in the museum’s front window, bringing festive cheer to passers-by.

During the month of December, the museum is also going to be part of a life-size advent calendar in Saddleworth. Shop windows will be decorated as part of a festive trail around the community. However, the design remains a secret.

The Saddleworth Museum Lottery appeal has been a huge success, with monthly draws and half of the funds supporting the closed museum. This month’s winners are as follows:

1st prize of £40 went to number 113, R.B. Uppermill

2nd prize of £30 went to number 58, A.M. Uppermill

3rd prize of £20 went to number 197, G.D. Uppermill

“Thanks to all those who bought a number in our monthly 200+ Club lottery last month - we sold more than 200 numbers so the prize winners are collecting more than expected!” the Friends of Saddleworth Museum stated.
