Chadderton man charged after city centre stabbings

A 30-year-old man from Chadderton has been charged after five people were injured in stabbings in Manchester City Centre on Sunday evening (12 January).

Ciaran McLoughlin, of Vine Street, has been charged with Section 18 Assault (wounding with intent), Greater Manchester Police confirmed on Tuesday evening.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Manchester Crown Court on Tuesday 11 February. 

Five people required medical treatment after the stabbings on Market Street, which happened shortly after 6pm on Sunday night. 

Police say those taken to hospital have since been discharged.
