Blue Coat's brightest are Oxbridge bound

An Oldham school has reason to be proud as a record number of their students have received offers from Oxbridge universities.

Six talented teens from Blue Coat School have been recognised this year by the prestigious Oxford and Cambridge establishments.

Rish Dhoot is set to head to Oxford Lincoln to study Maths, Kirsten Fletcher has an offer from Oxford Hertford to study Geography and Kian O'Connor is bound for Oxford Mansfield to study Law.

Meanwhile, James Goddard has an offer from Oxford New College to study Maths, Samuel Williamson could study Engineering Science at Oxford University College and Jack Bragg has an offer from Cambridge Clare to study Nat Science.

Headteacher Rob Higgins said: "We're all delighted with the success of our students. They have worked hard, not only in lessons but also by attending open days, summer schools, entering competitions and Olympiads.

"They have also made good use of the support offered by subject teachers and the staff running our Oxbridge support programme."

The Egerton Street school is a Church of England academy for 11 to 18 year olds.
