Avro aim for first points of the season

Avro will be aiming to pick up their first points of the season in the North west Counties Premier Division at Rylands on Saturday.

After the excitement of claiming promotion last season, the club have been slapped with a reality check after back-to-back defeats during their first stint at step five of the non-league pyramid.

James Hampson and Lee O'Brien's side were also knocked out of the FA Cup last weekend, losing 4-3 to Litherland in the extra preliminary round.

Following back-to-back promotions, which also included cup success in 2018, expectations were high ahead of this season. However, three consecutive defeats has deflated those hopes and the club will simply be hoping to end the losing run and chalk up their first points on the table.

But it won't be an easy task at the weekend, as Rylands have won their opening two games and currently sit second in the table, having scored six and conceded two. it's been a memorable year for the club, who stormed to the Division One South title with 85 points from 38 games, seven points ahead of second place Vauxhall Motors.
