Zooming into new ways to go carbon free

Sustainable Hayfield is presenting a free Zoom webinar entitled 'People, Planet and Profit'.

The story of one company’s journey towards maximum sustainability and ‘net zero carbon’ is planned for 7.30pm on Thursday, February 25.

It will be delivered by Dave Hanney, CEO at Alpkit, Outdoors Online Retailer of the Year, 2020.

Mr Hanney will talk about his company’s historic ethical stance in a highly competitive market, its achievements and commitments to deliver cuts of 90 per cent in its own carbon-equivalent emissions and 40 per cent in its international supply chain.

Alpkit, based in the Peak District, has recently obtained the prestigious international BCorp accreditation which verifies that businesses operate to the highest environmental and social standards. Mr Hanney will describe how the company has got to where it has, what’s involved, and what key steps have yet to be taken to deliver on its all-round commitment to secure BCorp’s designation as ‘world class’.

The webinar will consider what can be done by, and challenges facing, the best-motivated companies to deliver real sustainability gains in a tough marketplace.

Mr Hanney will also answer questions which can be submitted in advance at either david@alpkit.com or via sustainablehayfielduk@gmail.com or on the night.

Speaking for Sustainable Hayfield, Laurie James said: “We’re delighted that Dave has agreed to make such a presentation. It should be of interest to all those who want to see sustainability embedded in business practice, whether their own or generally. ”

The event is open to all and is free. Register for a place in advance at https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_xjTyf-yaSY2b-LKObr8Oyg. You will then be sent confirmation of how to log in for the session itself.
