Zoom into carol singing with Glossop Labour Club

Glossop Labour Club members will carry on singing 'local carols' again this Christmas but this time it will be by Zoom.

Organiser Jeremy Dale explained: "We’re not going to let Covid-19 defeat us. Of course we won’t be able to get together in the club to sing our usual selection of these splendid carols. But we can have a virtual sing using Zoom.

“A small group of us are at work recording some of the carols, which are being combined to provide some virtual group singing. Others will be sung as live solos, and we will add in some other recorded carols.

“Unfortunately we won’t be able to do real community singing, but each person attending can sing along at home although we won’t hear you!”

Many villages in north Derbyshire have a strong tradition of singing local carols, many of which are unique to that village.

Jeremy added: “If you are not familiar with this tradition, this is a good chance to hear them – they are great fun to sing. Unfortunately, it will not be possible for everyone to join in, but you can sing along at home.”

The event takes place on Sunday 20 December, starting at 2.30pm.

There is no charge for joining but donations to Blythe House Hospice will be requested.
