Youngster bitten by dog in Hadfield

Police are appealing for witnesses after a seven-year-old child was allegedly bitten by a dog on playing fields in Hadfield.

It's believed to have happened sometime between 5.20pm and 6pm on Monday (26 April) on the fields belonging to St Charles' Catholic Primary Voluntary Academy, just off The Carriage Drive.

The child suffered wounds to their right hand.

The dog, which was off the lead, is described as being mainly white, with brown and black patches, and is believed to be a Staffordshire Bull Terrier type cross dog.

Glossop Police Safer Neighbourhood Team say the owner or keeper of the dog left the area after the incident.

Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is asked to call 101 or report it online at https://www.derbyshire.police.uk/contactus, quoting occurrence reference 21000228698 and the officer in the case PC 15065 Wright.
