Young people in Glossopdale have been learning more about all aspects of Fairtrade by taking part in a special quiz.

Organised by Glossopdale Fairtrade Group, it was open to primary schools and saw guides and brownies also getting involved.

There were 10 winners in total, with six prizes awarded to children from Padfield Community Primary School, two prizes to 2nd Glossop Brownies and two prizes to 2nd Glossop Guides.

Long-standing Fairtrade supporter Father Martin Sylvester was invited to present the prizes at the Fairtrade Coffee Morning held at Central Methodist Church in Glossop on Saturday (8 May).

Christine Nudds, from Glossopdale Fairtrade Group, said previously they have held art competitions to mark Fairtrade Fortnight but this year they did something a little different.

“We set a quiz for the children it had 14 questions.”

She said the questions were tough and needed the youngsters to carry out some research to find out the answers.

“We did have some all correct and quite a lot who just had one wrong answer.”

Glossopdale Fairtrade Group will be a number of events this summer and are currently updating their leaflet highlighting Fairtrade stockists in the town.
