Where are this year's Christmas markets?

If you’re looking for some unusual gifts this year, there’s an array of Christmas markets being held across High Peak.

Here’s a selection of them:

  • Chapel-en-le-Frith: Santa will be popping along to the Blythe Hospicecare and Helen’s Trust fair which is being held at Chapel High School.

It’s being held on Saturday, November 27, from 11am to 3pm. Organisers are promising lots of festive fun including Christmas gift ideas, decorations and cards, Santa’s grotto, music, food and warming refreshments.

All the money raised will go towards care and support for patients in the local area with life-limiting illnesses. https://blythehousehospice.org.uk/event/christmas-market/

  • Glossop: The town’s festive market will be held on the day of the Christmas lights switch-on on Saturday, November 27.

Stalls will be on the market ground near the town hall car park and they will continue onto the front opposite Norfolk Square in the arcade under the arches until the great switch on at 7pm.

High Peak Mayor Paul Hardy gets the honour this year along with Santa and Paralympic Double Gold Medallist Ben Watson.

There will be Christmas stalls, hot food vendors, live music, Glossop old band, fairground rides, late night shopping, a laser show and Santa will be there with his sleigh and the mountain rescue team.

Emmerdale policeman PC Swirling will be performing live on stage with his band ‘Twelve Strings’ and Glossop’s own Centre Stage Dance Academy will be performing too! Also on stage local indie band ‘Not Ned’ and Rockin’ Red Rocket’.

  • Glossopdale School: On Saturday, December 4, Glossopdale School hosts its inaugural Christmas markets from noon-4pm.

There will be a range of stalls from cakes to crochet, candles to clothing. Plus Tintwistle Smokehouse and Grill will be on site with refreshments.

They will also have a licensed bar, raffle and entertainment including Jo’s Choir. The markets will take place in the Conservatory, Heart and Courtyard areas.

On arrival in the car park follow signs for ‘The Place’. Free parking and entry.

  • New Mills: Saturday, December 11 sees the first ever Christmas Fair at New Mills Fire Station from 11am until 3pm.

As well as a variety of stalls, there will be a chance to meet the emergency workers. There’s also a bouncy castle and Santa’s Grotto.

  • Crossroads Derbyshire: The fair is being held by the domestic abuse charity at the Partington Players Theatre on Henry Street in Glossop.

There’ll be a chance to meet Santa. Children can enjoy games and face painting, while adults browse the stalls from 2-4pm on Saturday, December 11.

All proceeds will go towards supporting the domestic abuse services at Crossroads Derbyshire.
