Weekend Review: Derbyshire and Cheshire Cricket League

The wet weather hit the weekend cricket fixtures hard in the Derbyshire and Cheshire Cricket League.

Division One

New Mills v Broadbottom 

No play possible.

Dinting v Hayfield

Dinting won the toss and elected to bat first scoring 143 all out. T Wyche made 63 as J Adamson took 5-47 and J Wyatt 3-20.

Hayfield raced home to win by eight wickets, G Wood scoring 33 and G Davies ending 51 not out.

Dove Holes v Whaley Bridge

Whaley Bridge won the toss and elected to field, as they saw Dove Holes score 165-6. D Jones scored 38, Joe Gregory 35 and Jack Gregory 37.

Whaley Bridge fell to 105 all out in reply.

Division Two

Old Glossop v Hazel Grove

Hazel Grove won the toss and elected to field first, bowling Old Glossop out for 109. A King made 31, while I Halford took 4-33.

Hazel Grove fell to 86 all out in reply as P Littlewood took 4-29 and L Allsopp 3-16.

Birch Vale v Newton

No play was possible.

Stalybridge SP v Hadfield

Stalybridge won the toss and elected to field, bowling Hadfield out for 109. J Brady took 4-17 and J Brownhill 4-27.

Stalybridge could only manage 73 in reply as L Doyle’s 5-19 steered Hadfield to victory.

Tintwistle v Buxworth

Tintwistle won the toss and elected to field first, bowling Buxworth out for 73. H Clancey claimed 3-5 and T Pugh 3-22.

Tintwistle lost five wickets in the chase, but 46 from K Handforth steered them to victory.

Division Three

Newton 2XI and Offerton

Newton won the toss and elected to field, as they bowled out Offerton out for 124. P Smith made 35 as M Hyde took 4-25.

Newton only lost to wickets on their way to victory as G Penney made 43 and C Barnard 53*.

High Lane v Chapel 

No play was possible.

Hollingworth v Pott Shrigley 

Hollingworth won the toss and elected to field, as Pott Shrigley ended 125 all out. S Dunn made 63, as J Miller took 4-48, R Hoskins 3-37 and Q Waqar 3-33.

Hollingworth chased the total for the loss of five wickets thanks to 87 from T Conway.

Charlesworth v Mottram 2XI

Charlesworth won the toss and elected to field as Mottram made 159-9. S Fazackerley scored 49* as P Elliott took 5-25.

Charlesworth fell to 111 all out in reply. S Gilham hit 37 as H Moore took 3-19 and P Marks 4-55.

Division Four

Hayfield 2XI v Birch Vale 2XI

No play possible

Old Glossop 2XI v 

Dove Holes 2XI

Old Glossop won the toss and elected to field as Dove Holes made 201 all out. M Johnson scored 36, B Bagshawe 63 as A Smith took 4-30.

Old Glossop fell to 131 all out despite 51 from J Acomb as B Bagshawe took 4-17.

Woodley 2XI v Tintwistle 2XI

Woodley won the toss and elected to bat scoring 199-7. B Qasim scored 62 and T Cleasby 45 as J Morris took 4-52.

Tintwistle fell to 130 all out in reply, despite 48 from R Harris.

Broadbottom 2XI v New Mills 2XI

New Mills won the toss and elected to field, as they bowled Broadbottom out for 185. J Brotherton scored 50 and N Jackson 44.

New Mills were all out for 104 in reply as S Gould and S Croft took three wickets each with U Ali striking 45.

Division Five

Buxworth 2XI v Hazel Grove 2XI

No play was possible

Pott Shrigley 2XI v 

Charlesworth 2XI

No play was possible.

Whaley Bridge 2XI v Dinting 2XI

No play was possible.

Chapel 2XI v Stalybridge 2XI

Stalybridge won the toss and elected to field as Chapel ended on 138-7. N Pearson scored 60* as A Dale took 3-26.

Stalybridge fell to 47 all out in reply, while B Harding took 3-8 and J Theyer 6-15.

Hadfield 2XI v Compstall 2XI

Hadfield won the toss and elected to field first, bowling Compstall out for 99. T Lloyd struck 33 as A Smith and C Tranter took three wickets each.

Hadfield knocked off the runs for the loss of just one wicket as L Martin struck 64*.

Offerton 2XI v Hollingworth 2XI

Hollingworth won the toss and elected to field as they bowled Offerton out for 171. S Rehman hit 36 and U Waheed 45.

Hollingworth chased the total for the loss of just seven wickets thanks to 88 from A Halliday and 32 from A Tindall.
