Heavy snow and icy conditions have caused widespread disruption across the High Peak with roads closed, public transport cancelled and schools disrupted.
And with reports of motorists ignoring road closed signs, the Association of British Insurers has warned that as well as putting other people in danger their actions could also have an impact if they have to make on any insurance claims.
A spokesperson for ABI said: “In bad weather, and when bad weather is forecast, motorists should always think safety, and not drive unless they have no alternative.
“Your motor insurance policy will continue to operate as normal if you drive in bad weather, but if you recklessly put yourself and others in danger, such as ignoring closed road signs, then you will be putting any subsequent claim in jeopardy.”
